Meaning of Ventures

Ventures speaks of what is starting up. The card evokes the spirit of initiative: the project you put on the table, break into stages, and decide to lead. It concerns a job, a partnership, a creation, but also a life project or a home project.

In the Mercury series, which touches on ideas and exchanges, it takes on a practical color: it is less about dreaming than about putting things in order, gathering people around you, and choosing the first moves. It encourages the boldness to try and adjust along the way.

Its reverse side is scattering: starting a lot, sustaining little, or mistaking agitation for real progress.

Ventures in your life

In love

In a couple, Ventures speaks of a joint project built step by step: a trip, a place to live, a way of organizing things together.

At work

In a work setting, the card puts initiative forward: proposing, structuring an idea, taking charge of a file and giving it a shape.

Ventures in a reading

In its position

Ventures turns the question toward action: a project needs structuring, with named stages and a first step to fix.

Mercury series

Exchanges: ideas, trade, news, the flow of money.

Change, Money, Intelligence, Theft-Loss, Trade, News

The Belline cards help you look at a situation from another angle: they predict nothing, and the choice remains yours.

Its place in the deck

Ventures bears the number 22 and opens the end of the Mercury series, which runs from card 18 to card 24. There it keeps company with Change, Money, and Intelligence: all speak of what circulates, organizes itself, and gets moving. Versana reads it as a drive of initiative, never as a promised success.

Where the sources disagree

  • Tone of the cards: A ranking set by the site from the name of each card, with no old source: 21 supportive cards, 14 demanding, 18 neutral. It gives the tone of a reading, never an answer or a yes or no.
  • Dominant series: When one planet comes up more often than the others in a reading (at least two cards), its series colors the interpretation. A modern reading rule, described by several guides; cards outside the series are not part of the count.
  • Images of the cards: The drawings attributed to the mage Edmond (died 1881) are old, but the cards published since 1961 and the Mucem photographs are not under a free license. The site draws its own pictograms and reproduces no card.
