Meaning of Support

Support speaks of what stands firm. The card evokes the backing of a loved one, a colleague, a framework, or a conviction: something stable to lean on when you need to move forward. No help is promised; the card invites you to spot the help that already exists and to dare to ask for more.

With Jupiter, the planet of generosity, it takes on a reassuring tone. It reminds you that you move forward better when surrounded, and that asking for a hand is not a weakness. It also invites you to become a pillar for someone yourself.

Its downside is dependence: entrusting everything to one single source of support, or giving up on your own strengths.

Support in your life

In love

In a couple, Support speaks of the solidity of a bond in which each person can rest on the other, in small moments as in trials.

At work

For your career, the card values professional backing: a mentor, a reliable team, a reassuring framework, which you need to know how to call on.

Support in a reading

In its position

Support highlights a backing to recognize or to ask for: some support probably already exists in your circle.

Jupiter series

Breadth: support, wisdom, social radiance, luck.

Beauty, Inheritance, Wisdom, Renown, Chance, Happiness

The Belline cards help you look at a situation from another angle: they predict nothing, and the choice remains yours.

Its place in the deck

Support carries number 39 and opens the Jupiter series, which runs from card 39 to card 45. Its neighbors are Beauty, Inheritance, and Wisdom, as well as Renown, Chance, and Happiness: a series turned toward abundance and harmony.

Where the sources disagree

  • Tone of the cards: A ranking set by the site from the name of each card, with no old source: 21 supportive cards, 14 demanding, 18 neutral. It gives the tone of a reading, never an answer or a yes or no.
  • Dominant series: When one planet comes up more often than the others in a reading (at least two cards), its series colors the interpretation. A modern reading rule, described by several guides; cards outside the series are not part of the count.
  • Images of the cards: The drawings attributed to the mage Edmond (died 1881) are old, but the cards published since 1961 and the Mucem photographs are not under a free license. The site draws its own pictograms and reproduces no card.
