Meaning of Honors

Honors speaks of the gaze turned on what you have accomplished. The word suggests esteem, regard, a respect that comes from deeds, not speeches. It touches on dignity, that way of standing tall without crushing anyone.

Under the Sun, the light returns to whoever has earned it. The card advises receiving simply, saying thank you, and seeing in it neither a goal nor definitive proof of your worth.

Its reverse side is vanity, or conversely dependence on others’ judgment: acting only to be applauded.

Honors in your life

In love

In matters of the heart, mutual respect takes the lead: showing pride in the other person and telling them what earns your esteem.

At work

On the professional side, recognition is at stake: highlight a finished piece of work, without forgetting to value your colleagues’ work.

Honors in a reading

In its position

Esteem enters the line: it sheds light on what is seen and valued, and what deserves to be put forward.

Sun series

Radiance: success, recognition, self-confidence.

Nativity, Success, Elevation, Thought-Friendship, Countryside-Health, Gifts

The Belline cards help you look at a situation from another angle: they predict nothing, and the choice remains yours.

Its place in the deck

Seventh card, Honors belongs to the Sun series. Its neighbors are Nativity, Success, Elevation, and Thought-Friendship. For Versana, it is recognition coming back to you, never a goal in itself. It is worth something only through what it gives back to others.

Reflecting on Honors

A question

Which of your contributions deserves to be said out loud, and which of other people’s?

Where the sources disagree

  • Tone of the cards: A ranking set by the site from the name of each card, with no old source: 21 supportive cards, 14 demanding, 18 neutral. It gives the tone of a reading, never an answer or a yes or no.
  • Dominant series: When one planet comes up more often than the others in a reading (at least two cards), its series colors the interpretation. A modern reading rule, described by several guides; cards outside the series are not part of the count.
  • Images of the cards: The drawings attributed to the mage Edmond (died 1881) are old, but the cards published since 1961 and the Mucem photographs are not under a free license. The site draws its own pictograms and reproduces no card.

Honors means recognition: the esteem and respect that deeds earn. The card invites you to receive it simply, as a return and not as a goal.

Is Honors a card of vanity?

Not in the site’s reading: it speaks of dignity and earned esteem. Its reverse side is precisely the pursuit of applause, which the card invites you to avoid.
