All the concepts of a full chart

Birthday number, cycles, challenges, transit letter… Each element calculated in a full chart has its page, listed here in chapter order, with its calculation in one sentence.

Who you are

  • Active number12 values

Sum of the letters of the first given name, reduced, keeping 11, 22, and 33.

  • Hereditary number12 values

Sum of the letters of the family name at birth, reduced, keeping 11, 22, and 33.

  • Planes of expression4 planes

Each letter belongs to a plane (mental, physical, emotional, intuitive); count the letters of each plane in the full name. The fullest plane is dominant; a plane with no letter is absent.

  • Initials26 values

Initial of the first given name and of the surname (each initial has its page: the letter and its value).

  • Initials number12 values

Sum of the values of the initials (first name and surname), reduced, keeping 11, 22, and 33.

  • First vowel6 values

First vowel of the family name (Y included): the spontaneous reflex.

How you act

  • Bridge number9 values

Gap (difference) between two numbers reduced to 1–9: life path and Expression, Soul Urge and Personality. It ranges from 0 to 8.

Your resources and lessons

  • Excess number9 values

Inclusion chart: a number is in excess when more than 25% of the letters of the name carry it.

  • Dominant number9 values

Inclusion chart: the most represented number (at least 3 letters; at most 2 numbers tied, beyond that the chart is called balanced).

  • Karmic debt number4 values

A total of 13, 14, 16, or 19 met while reducing the life path, Expression, Soul Urge, or Personality number, or a day of birth worth 13, 14, 16, or 19.

Your path

  • Birthday number31 values

The day of birth as is (1 to 31), read for itself and through its reduction (29 → 11 → 2).

  • Birth month number12 values

The month of birth (1 to 12): the climate of childhood and adolescence.

  • Life goal number9 values

Sum of the four digits of the birth year, reduced to 1–9 (1987 → 25 → 7).

  • Destiny helpers9 values

Sum of the last two digits of the birth year, reduced to 1–9 (87 → 15 → 6); a birth in 2000 gives 0, with no numbered help.

  • Sub-number13 values

When the sum of the last two digits of the birth year falls between 10 and 22, this unreduced total (the sub-number) nuances the destiny helpers.

  • Maturity number11 values

Life path + Expression (each brought down to 1–9), reduced, keeping 11 (the sum never exceeds 18, so 22 only appears with another calculation; its page explains it). It comes forward around ages 35–45.

  • Unique number22 values

Active + hereditary + life path (each from 1 to 9), with no reduction up to 22: an echo of the 22 major arcana (specific to Fermier).

The major stages of your life

  • Formative cycle11 values

Birth month, reduced (11 kept; 22 only appears with another calculation, its page explains it): from birth to about age 28.

  • Productive cycle11 values

Day of birth, reduced (11 and 22 kept): from about age 28 to about age 57.

  • Harvest cycle11 values

Sum of the digits of the birth year, reduced (11 and 22 kept): after about age 57.

  • Pinnacle11 values

Four pinnacles drawn from the date (day + month; day + year; the first two; month + year); the first ends at 37 minus the life path (brought down to 1–9), then one every 9 years.

  • Challenge number9 values

Gap between day and month (first challenge), between day and year (second), then between the two (main challenge); each term brought down to 1–9. It ranges from 0 to 8.

Where you are now

  • Transit letter26 values

Each year, one letter of the full name takes over, in order, from birth onward.

  • Annual vibration12 values

A 12-year cycle: the age reached, modulo 12, plus 1; it changes on each birthday.

  • Personal month9 values

Personal year + number of the month, reduced to 1–9.

Your questions

Frequently asked questions about core numbers

What are the core numbers in numerology?

Six numbers, each drawn from a different source: the full date of birth (life path), all the letters of the name (Expression), its vowels (Soul Urge), its consonants (Personality), the date and the current year (personal year), the values missing from the name (missing numbers). The same 7 does not say the same thing depending on its source.

Which concept should I start with?

With the life path number, drawn from the date of birth: it is the thread of your existence. Then come the Expression and Soul Urge numbers, then the personal year for the present moment. The other concepts (Birthday number, cycles, challenges) refine the reading.

Are all these concepts part of a full chart?

Yes: each concept on this page belongs to a full numerology chart, where they are read together. Each page explains the concept on its own, with its calculation and an example, so that you can check it.

What is the difference between the life path and the Expression number?

The life path number comes from the date of birth: it describes the road of your existence, what you go through and learn. The Expression number comes from all the letters of the name: it describes how you act and how others see you. The first never changes; the second depends on the name used. The two are read together, without one prevailing.

Should I use my birth name or the name I use today?

The convention followed here uses the name recorded at birth: it gives the Expression, Soul Urge, and Personality numbers. A married name or a name in use does not replace it in this calculation. Other sites use the name you go by today, hence different results for the same person.

How many numbers make up a numerology chart?

Six core numbers form its heart: life path, Expression, Soul Urge, Personality, personal year, and missing numbers. A full chart adds many others, which this page sorts by chapter: Birthday number, cycles, challenges, transit letter, pinnacles. A full chart includes them all and reads them together.
