Life period: what it refers to
The outer circle of the chart covers the whole of life, up to eighty.
Every ten years, it passes through one of the eight major points: the portrait at the start, then, in turn, the corners of the ancestral lines and the tips of the diamond. Between two of these landmarks, the decade is divided into eight slices of about fifteen months. A period’s energy shows the areas that may gain importance and the attitude that helps you get through them.
The calculation, step by step
The peaks of the ring reuse points you already know: age 0 the portrait, age 10 the paternal corner, age 20 the talent, age 30 the maternal corner, and so on up to age 70.
Between two peaks, you add to find the midpoint, then repeat for the quarters. On the fictional example of March 14, 1987, you find 14 at birth and 17 at ten. The midpoint, around age 5, is 14 and 17, making 31, reduced to 4. Around age two and a half, 14 and 4 give 18; around age seven and a half, 4 and 17 give 21.

Does a period tell you what is going to happen?
No. It describes a climate, themes likely to take up space, and a helpful attitude. Concrete events depend on your choices, your circle, and a thousand circumstances. Two people in the same period can live very different years. Take the reading as an invitation to look more closely at certain areas.
What should you do during a delicate period?
Look at what it asks of you rather than what it threatens. Each energy has an attitude that calms it: order for one, patience or sorting things out for another. Why does the ring stop at 80?
The circle has eight peaks, one every ten years, and returns to the portrait after the last: the full turn is eighty years. Beyond that, the most common practice is to read the ring again from the start. Some people see a second cycle in it, a more inward one, where the same energies return with the experience gained.
