The sky right now
Each line gives the sign and degree of a body in the sky at the time shown: the Sun, the Moon, then the planets from Mercury to Pluto. A degree runs from 0 to 29, and each sign has thirty. An “R” marks an apparent retrograde motion.

Current aspects
An aspect is the exact angle formed by two bodies: 0° for the conjunction, 60° for the sextile, 90° for the square, 120° for the trine, 180° for the opposition. The table lists those that are exact or nearly so today, with their gap in degrees: the smaller the gap, the tighter the aspect.

Retrograde planets
A retrograde planet seems to move backward in the sky as seen from Earth, like a car you pass on the highway. The illusion comes from perspective, but tradition sees a time of revisiting in it. The list shows those in this phase today, and the Sun and the Moon never appear in it.
Where these positions come from
The positions come from an astronomical calculation engine that starts from today’s date and time, with no copied data. Longitudes are given in degrees within the sign, with the same conventions as the site’s other astrology pages. Aspects are counted with tight orbs, a few degrees wide. The page offers no reading by sign: for that, see the horoscope.
Today’s sky describes real positions; it reads nothing for any sign and announces nothing.

Frequently asked questions about today’s sky
Where are the planets today?
The table on this page gives the sign and degree of each body in the sky at the time shown: the Sun, the Moon, then the planets from Mercury to Pluto. The positions are calculated on demand, not copied from an almanac, and they update with every load.
Which sign is the Moon in today?
The Moon’s line in the table shows it, with its degree. It stays barely more than two days in a sign and goes around the zodiac in about twenty-seven days. Its phase, new, waxing, or full, is shown separately: it does not depend on the sign.
Which planets are retrograde right now?
The retrograde section lists them with their current sign. Mercury is retrograde three to four times a year, for about three weeks each time; the slow planets are retrograde for several months a year. It is an apparent motion, seen from Earth, not a real backward movement.
What is an exact aspect?
It is the moment when two bodies form a precise angle, such as 90° or 120°, with a gap close to zero. Aspects are called “tight” when that gap is within a few degrees. At the exact moment, tradition considers their effect strongest; it is read over the surrounding days.
Are these positions calculated or copied?
Calculated. An astronomical engine determines the position of each body from the date and time, in real time, with far greater precision than astrology requires. Nothing is taken from a prerecorded calendar or altered to fit a text.
