Meaning of Inheritance

Inheritance speaks of transmission. The card evokes what is handed down from age to age: material heritage, but even more so values, stories, gestures, and know-how. No gain is promised; the card looks at what has been given to you and what you do with it.

Under Jupiter, the planet of abundance and wisdom, it takes on a generous tone. It invites you to sort through what you receive, keep what nourishes, and recognize what no longer has its place. It also raises the question of what you would like, in your turn, to entrust to others.

Its downside is the weight of the past: feeling bound by old expectations, or neglecting what you could offer in return.

Inheritance in your life

In love

Between two people, Inheritance speaks of what each brings from their family history, and of what the couple chooses to build.

At work

At work, the card evokes the handing over of expertise: training, mentoring a successor, or taking over a team’s know-how.

Inheritance in a reading

In its position

Inheritance places the question in the long term: what has been received and what will be passed on sheds light on the choice to make.

Jupiter series

Breadth: support, wisdom, social radiance, luck.

Support, Beauty, Wisdom, Renown, Chance, Happiness

The Belline cards help you look at a situation from another angle: they predict nothing, and the choice remains yours.

Its place in the deck

Inheritance carries number 41 and sits in the middle of the Jupiter series, which counts cards 39 to 45. Support, Beauty, and Wisdom surround it, along with Renown, Chance, and Happiness: a group that speaks of what enriches lastingly.

Where the sources disagree

  • Tone of the cards: A ranking set by the site from the name of each card, with no old source: 21 supportive cards, 14 demanding, 18 neutral. It gives the tone of a reading, never an answer or a yes or no.
  • Dominant series: When one planet comes up more often than the others in a reading (at least two cards), its series colors the interpretation. A modern reading rule, described by several guides; cards outside the series are not part of the count.
  • Images of the cards: The drawings attributed to the mage Edmond (died 1881) are old, but the cards published since 1961 and the Mucem photographs are not under a free license. The site draws its own pictograms and reproduces no card.

Frequently asked questions about Inheritance

What does Inheritance mean in the Belline oracle?

Inheritance means transmission: what you receive from your elders and what you choose to leave. It can be about values, know-how, memories, or belongings.

Does Inheritance announce a financial windfall?

No: Versana never reads a card as a promised gain. Inheritance looks at transmission, in the moral as well as the material sense, and at how each person takes hold of it.
