Meaning of Fire

Fire speaks of energy. The card evokes the ardor that pushes you to act, but also the irritation that rises when something sticks. It carries the image of the hearth: what warms, lights, and gathers, or what devours when left unwatched. Nothing threatening here, only a force to be steered.

With Mars, fire is the engine of courage and self-assertion. It invites you to ask where your energy is going: is it feeding a project, a conviction, a bond? Or is it scattering into annoyances? Channeling it through movement, clear words, or a concrete project makes it an ally.

Its downside is outbursts: acting or speaking in the heat of anger, then regretting what was said.

Fire in your life

In love

Between two people, Fire evokes a frank ardor and sometimes flare-ups; saying your irritation early is better than letting it smolder.

At work

For your job, the card describes a lively energy for a project, to be directed toward the essential without burning through the team’s patience.

Fire in a reading

In its position

Fire brings energy to the question: the drive is there, to be directed toward useful action rather than toward irritation.

Mars series

Action: drive, disagreements, tensions to channel.

Malice, Lawsuit, Despotism, Enemies, Negotiations, Accident

The Belline cards help you look at a situation from another angle: they predict nothing, and the choice remains yours.

Its place in the deck

Fire is card 37 of the oracle, the next-to-last of the seven cards placed with Mars. It is surrounded by Malice, Lawsuit, Despotism, Enemies, and Negotiations: there, fire stands for the energy each person chooses to put into conflict.

Reflecting on Fire

A question

Where is your energy going right now, and does it light your way or consume you?

A gesture

Burn off your surplus energy with a brisk walk or some sport, then come back to that email that annoys you.

Where the sources disagree

  • Tone of the cards: A ranking set by the site from the name of each card, with no old source: 21 supportive cards, 14 demanding, 18 neutral. It gives the tone of a reading, never an answer or a yes or no.
  • Dominant series: When one planet comes up more often than the others in a reading (at least two cards), its series colors the interpretation. A modern reading rule, described by several guides; cards outside the series are not part of the count.
  • Images of the cards: The drawings attributed to the mage Edmond (died 1881) are old, but the cards published since 1961 and the Mucem photographs are not under a free license. The site draws its own pictograms and reproduces no card.
