Number compatibility in numerology: the 45 pairs

Each pair of numbers has its own page: what brings the two together, what needs adjusting, and an idea for moving forward together.

Three possible relationships

  • Harmony 16 pairs

These two numbers appear together in the compatibility chart: their drives complement each other naturally.

  • Accord 9 pairs

The two numbers are identical: the relationship starts from common ground.

  • Contrast 20 pairs

These two numbers are not paired in the compatibility chart: the relationship calls for more adjustments, which does not keep it from being rich.

Compatibility in numerology

  • Two people, their numbers

Two people meet, move in together, start a business, or share an office. Numerology offers a way to look at that bond through their numbers. Each one comes from a simple piece of data: the letters of a first name, the digits of a birth date, the letters of the original family name. Set side by side, two numbers can be identical, fit together easily, or pull in different directions.

  • Three criteria rather than one

Why use several criteria instead of one? Because a person can’t be summed up in a single digit. The first name shows how someone behaves day to day, in the kitchen or on the phone. The birth date describes the road they travel, with its stages and lessons. The full name shows what they give off and how they present themselves to others. Two people can get along well every day while following distant roads, or the other way around. Crossing the three readings gives a more nuanced picture, and often a fairer one, than any single comparison.

  • What the numbers don’t say

Numbers measure neither the strength of a feeling, nor loyalty, nor a person’s ability to change. They know nothing of your history, your shared memories, or the hardships you’ve already been through. A couple with contrasting numbers can last forty years; two friends with identical numbers can lose touch. The point of the exercise lies elsewhere: putting words on differences you sense without knowing how to name them. Why one person decides in five minutes while the other wants to sleep on it, why one asks for quiet while the other needs company. Once named, those differences become easier to talk about.

  • One page per pair

Each pair of numbers has its own page, from 1 and 1 to 9 and 9, covering what brings the two people together, what calls for adjustments, and a practical idea to try. The pair is read as a couple, as friends, as family, and at work, and each of the two numbers is set against the other nine. The cross table leads there in one click; the test calculates your own numbers from the two full identities (first names, birth surnames, dates), then points you to the page for your pair.

Your questions

Frequently asked questions about number compatibility

Which number is compatible with mine?

In the table this site follows, Fermier’s, each number from 1 to 9 naturally pairs with three or four others: four partners for the 1 (3, 5, 6, 9), three for the 7 (2, 4, 8), for example. It forms a match with itself and a contrast with the rest. Choose your number above the table: its row lights up and its nine relationships appear. None is to be avoided: a contrast only signals an area where the match is built with more conversation.

What is the harmony table in numerology?

It is a list of pairings between the numbers 1 to 9, taken here from Fermier’s book, the author whose method the site follows. It forms two groups, 1-3-5-6-9 on one side, 2-4-7-8 on the other: two families of temperaments, one leaning toward drive and exchange, the other toward building and reflection. Other authors use other tables; that is why each pair states which table it rests on.

Match, harmony, or contrast: which is best?

None of the three. Harmony says that two drives complement each other without particular effort; a match, that the two people see themselves in the same number, with its strengths and flaws doubled; a contrast, that their ways of doing things differ and need more translation. Each has its own ease and its own pitfalls. A pair in contrast can prove very stimulating, a pair in a match can go in circles: the relationship as lived matters far more than the cell in the table.

Woman and man: does the compatibility calculation change?

It doesn’t. Numbers come from letters and dates, never from gender: a woman 3 and a man 7 have exactly the same pair as a man 3 and a woman 7, and the reading applies in the same way to two women or two men. That is also why the site doesn’t offer separate pages by gender: they would repeat the same calculation under a different title.

What if one of us has a master number, 11, 22, or 33?

To compare two numbers, the method reads 11 as a 2; likewise, 22 counts as 4 and 33 as 6. A life path 22 facing a 7 therefore leads to the page “4 and 7”. The master number still keeps its own color, a particular strength, absent from the table; each pair page concerned devotes a question to this case, and the test shows the original value next to its reading.

Does number compatibility apply to friendship and work?

Yes, the calculation is the same whatever the bond. Two business partners, two office colleagues, two childhood friends, or a parent and child can compare their numbers like a couple. What changes is the ground where the pair plays out: a project to run, a weekend to organize, a house to share. The pages for the 45 pairs therefore cover separately life as a couple, friends, relatives, and colleagues.
