Two 5s together
Two 5s form a match: both carry the same number.
Each finds across the table their own need for air, and so has no need to defend it. No suspicion when one leaves for three days to see a friend on the other side of the country, no reproach when the other changes jobs after eighteen months. This mutual tolerance is rare, and you feel it from the first conversations.
The flip side of a match is the lack of a counterweight. Nobody naturally plays the one who tidies up, plans, or reminds the other of a deadline. Each 5 can also lead a busy life alongside the other’s, with the two paths hardly crossing.
What matters for this pair, then, is not getting along but keeping a common thread in the middle of the movement.
