Meaning of Passions

Passions speaks of what carries you away. The card evokes the intensity of a desire, an attachment, or an enthusiasm that takes up all the room. It concerns love, but also a vocation, an art, a cause, a sport, anything that lights up the eyes.

In the Venus series, it represents the ardent side of attraction. It reminds you that drive is precious and gains from being guided: a flame lasts longer when fed in stages than when launched at full speed.

Its reverse side is excess: catching fire to the point of no longer seeing the rest, or letting intensity silence lucidity.

Passions in your life

In love

In a couple, Passions speaks of a strong, sincere drive; it calls for listening and a sustainable rhythm, so the bond holds.

At work

In your work, the card evokes wholehearted commitment to a project you believe in, with the challenge of preserving your energy.

Passions in a reading

In its position

Passions brings intensity to the question: a strong drive is present, which needs a frame to last.

Venus series

Bonds: affection, pleasure, harmony, family life.

Pleasures, Peace, Union, Family, Love, The Table

The Belline cards help you look at a situation from another angle: they predict nothing, and the choice remains yours.

Its place in the deck

With the number 31, Passions closes the Venus series. It shares this series with Pleasures, Peace, Love, and the Table, cards devoted to attachments and the drives of the heart. Versana reads it as an intensity to measure.

Where the sources disagree

  • Tone of the cards: A ranking set by the site from the name of each card, with no old source: 21 supportive cards, 14 demanding, 18 neutral. It gives the tone of a reading, never an answer or a yes or no.
  • Dominant series: When one planet comes up more often than the others in a reading (at least two cards), its series colors the interpretation. A modern reading rule, described by several guides; cards outside the series are not part of the count.
  • Images of the cards: The drawings attributed to the mage Edmond (died 1881) are old, but the cards published since 1961 and the Mucem photographs are not under a free license. The site draws its own pictograms and reproduces no card.
