All you need is your birth date. The day, reduced to 22 at most, goes on the left; the month at the top; the reduced year on the right. Their reduced sum goes at the bottom, and the sum of the four at the center. Every other point follows from successive additions, reducing each time the total goes above 22. Differences most often come from how the year is reduced or from an addition error. Here, each number is reduced to 22 or less by adding its digits, the year included, and the calculation is checked against 606 dates. The “Step-by-step calculation” section lets you redo each number by hand.

Some sites also call the Pythagorean square a “matrix”: nine boxes from 1 to 9 filled with the digits of the date. It is a different method, not a calculation error, and its numbers cannot be compared with those of the Destiny Matrix.

The center is the sum of the four points of the personal square. The method sees it as your comfort zone: the energy you rest in, the one that returns when nothing pushes you elsewhere. Well lived, it gives stability; overprotected, it can hold you back. Some values never appear there, such as 1, 2, 15, 17, 19, or 21, simply because of how the calculation works.

It is the sequence of three numbers placed at the bottom of the diagram, between the lesson point and the center. Classical numerology reduces numbers to 1 through 9, keeping a few master numbers, and uses the name as much as the date. The Destiny Matrix stops at 22, the scale of the Major Arcana, and relies only on the three numbers of birth, without the name. It also places its numbers on a diagram where each position has its own meaning. The two approaches complement each other without contradicting each other.
