The sky of March
Worm Moon, or Crow Moon and Sap Moon depending on the sources: the almanacs link these names to the thaw, when earthworms come back to the surface, crows return, and sap rises in the maples.
Near the equinox, day and night last about twelve hours each, and the full moon reaches mid-height, between 35 and 50°. In the evening, Leo sits in the south, the Big Dipper passes very high in the northeast, an upturned saucepan, and Virgo rises in the east with Spica, its bluish-white star. The Sun crosses the celestial equator around March 20.
