Jin at a glance

Something to watch

Letting yourself be dazzled by recognition: the advance holds through integrity, not through the brilliance it produces.

What it advises

The situation

Jin shows Fire above Earth: the sun rises over the world. The Judgment tells it through a benevolent prince, who brings peace to the people, receives many horses from the king, and is received three times in a single day.

The hexagram describes progress that comes with recognition: you move forward, and you are welcomed. But it does not say that everything is easy; its lines also evoke setbacks, doubts, and the caution you need to keep.

It invites you to advance with transparency, to serve something greater than yourself, and not to make recognition the goal of the effort.

  3. 3rd line · brokenApproved by all those around you, there is no more reason for regret: the trust of those near you makes the advance possible.
  4. 4th line · solidAdvancing like a marmot, in secret: even firm and upright, the position is perilous. Progress that hides exposes itself.
