How is the reading done?
The 36 cards are shuffled in your browser, then laid out in a line from left to right. None comes up reversed: that is not the custom with this deck.
The center card carries the sentence of meaning. Each pair of neighboring cards is then read as a short sentence, the first card being the subject and the second what qualifies it. With five cards, the first is also read with the last, and the second with the fourth.
The tone of each pair comes from a classification common among modern authors, with no old source: eight supportive cards, nine demanding ones, and the rest neutral. It colors the reading without deciding for you.
Frequently asked questions: lenormand reading
Should I choose three or five cards?
Three cards give a direct answer; five give a more nuanced reading, with cards that answer each other in mirror. If you are starting out, three cards are enough to learn how to link one image to its neighbor.
Why is the spread read from left to right?
That is the custom with Lenormand cards: each card refines the one before it, like the words of a sentence. A pair therefore does not read the same way if the order changes.
Can I draw again if I do not like the reading?
It is better to avoid it: a second spread on the same question mixes the answers and sheds no more light. Reread the pairs instead, or ask a different question.
Are my questions stored?
No. The spread asks you for no account and no written question, and nothing you draw leaves this page.
