Josiah means “Yahweh supports”, the name of a reforming king of Judah, and the sums settle on the ambitious 8.
The 8 gives a Josiah a practical ambition, a clear aim and the persistence to finish a long task.
Putting numbers on a vague project in one evening and knowing whether it holds up.
Judging the value of a day by the number of tasks wrapped up.
Josiah comes from the Hebrew Yoshiyahu, “Yahweh supports”.
In the Old Testament Josiah is a king of Judah who came to the throne as a child, repaired the Temple and reformed religious practice. After the Reformation, Puritan families on both sides of the Atlantic adopted the name, and Protestant households have kept it alive.
An 8 respects effort.
J1 O6 S1 I9 A1 H8 sum to 26, and 2 plus 6 gives 8. A Josiah often makes a budget that works, trains for a goal over months and takes pride in leaving a thing better than he found it. Authority comes to him because he is competent, not because he demands it.
Josiah’s O, I and A give 16 and then 7: behind the efficiency stands a thinker, curious about reasons and private about his convictions. J, S and H make 10, then 1, so his way of acting is independent and brisk, preferring to take initiative himself.
Josiah begins with a J of 1, a confident and direct greeting, and his vowels begin with an O of 6, so when something unexpected lands on the table his first concern is for those who rely on him.
Ambition, reflection and independence, with a protective reflex: a robust set of numbers. Further detail depends on the rest of the record.

J 1 + O 6 + S 1 + I 9 + A 1 + H 8 = 26 → 8
Josiah means “Yahweh supports”, from the Hebrew Yoshiyahu, and was the name of a reforming king of Judah who repaired the Temple. Six letters give 26, then 8; the three vowels give 7, and the consonants J, S and H give 1.
They share a Hebrew ancestry, with the divine element yah or yeho, but they are different names: Joshua is Yehoshua, “Yahweh is salvation”, and Josiah is Yoshiyahu, “Yahweh supports”. Numerically Josiah falls on 8, whereas Joshua totals 20 and falls on 2, so one leans toward ambition and the other toward cooperation.
