Air brings lightness and a taste for ideas, the mutable modality the flexibility of the end of a season, and Mercury, messenger of the gods, speech, trade, and short journeys. The symbol of the twins says the essential: a personality with two voices, able to hold two points of view, to change register from one conversation to the next, and to take an interest in almost everything.
In practice, a Gemini person would read three books at once, know the baker’s name and the neighborhood news, and always find someone to introduce to someone else. They learn by asking questions, trying things, and talking. Humor serves as their common language; quick repartee, as their defense. In a group, they pass along the news and defuse tensions with a word.
This constant motion has its limits. Interest fades when novelty wears off, and projects launched with enthusiasm sometimes remain unfinished. The ease of changing one’s mind can pass for inconstancy, and the taste for a witty remark for superficiality. Astrologers set Gemini against Sagittarius, the sign of synthesis and big convictions: where one collects information, the other looks for its meaning. A mature Gemini would learn to choose a few threads and follow them to the end.

Gemini in your life
In love
Gemini would look first for a mind.
Seduction runs through conversation, messages exchanged late at night, shared discoveries: an exhibition, a short trip, a film talked about for hours. A lively relationship, full of laughter and surprises, matters more to this sign than grand declarations. Intellectual complicity is often the best cement.
Boredom is its real danger. When the relationship becomes too predictable, the Gemini person may seek distraction elsewhere, in thought at least, or flee conversations that touch on deep feelings. Tradition invites them not to confuse routine with monotony: a stable couple can stay curious. It also encourages them to stay present in serious moments, without lightening them with a joke that falls flat.
At work
Gemini would find its place in anything that circulates: communication, journalism, teaching, sales, translation, public relations, multifaceted projects.
People of the sign quickly grasp a new file, adapt to a change of course, and know how to present an idea in a lively way. Jobs where no day looks like the one before suit them well.
Routine and long solitary tasks dim them. They then risk multiplying parallel projects and letting deadlines slip. A few safeguards help: a single tracking board rather than ten notebooks, short and visible deadlines, a colleague who watches over the finishing. Their versatility becomes a recognized asset once it comes with the ability to carry a file through to the end, then explain it to others.
In daily life
A Gemini person lives with several windows open: the phone, a podcast, a shopping list mixed in with project ideas.
They like going out, meeting people, wandering a city, changing cafés depending on their mood. Short trips, chats on the landing, and wordplay set the rhythm of their days.
This profusion can tire those around them and scatter the person themselves. Forgotten appointments, subscriptions never used, and piles of books started bear witness to it. Tradition suggests chosen moments of pause, with no screen and no demands, and a simple sorting habit: each evening, note the three things that really matter for the next day. The rest can wait without curiosity suffering.
Gemini: decans, compatibility, and tradition
The 3 decans of Gemini
Each sign divides into three decans of about ten days, each with its own nuance.
Two traditions give them a ruling planet or sign. Dates for 2026.
1st decan
In 2026
May 21 to May 31
Planet
Jupiter
Associated sign
Gemini (Mercury)
Jupiter, the first face of Gemini, and Mercury, ruler of the sign in the triplicities, share the opening. Depending on the school, curiosity would be broadened by the wish to learn and to travel, or purely Mercurial: lively, talkative, turned toward the news of the day.
At the center of the sign, Mars for some, Libra and Venus for others: two rulers that everything sets against each other. Tradition draws from this a way of speaking that is sometimes incisive and polemical, sometimes conciliatory and attentive to the other person. Debate would be at home here, in one form or the other.
The last slice receives the Sun among the Chaldeans, Aquarius and Saturn in the triplicities. Radiance on one side, distance and a taste for invention on the other: one would see here Geminis who want to enlighten a group, to pass on a new idea, rather than shine in society.
To exchange endlessly, Gemini would find its best accomplices in Libra and Aquarius, air signs.
Aries and Leo would offer it a fire to stoke, while Virgo and Pisces, at a right angle, would call for more method or more emotion. Opposite, Sagittarius shares its taste for movement but aims farther: the duo debates a lot. These symbolic markers are always nuanced case by case.

Mythology and tradition
The Twins of the sky would be Castor and Pollux, the Dioscuri.
According to the versions collected by Eratosthenes and then Hyginus (De astronomia II, 22), they are born of Leda, but Pollux is the son of Zeus and immortal, Castor the son of King Tyndareus and mortal. When Castor is killed, Pollux refuses to outlive him alone; Zeus allows them to share immortality, one day among the gods, one day among the dead, according to Pindar’s account (Nemean Odes X). The two brightest stars of the constellation still bear their names.
Greek and Roman sailors invoked the Dioscuri as protectors of navigation. In astrology, the sign becomes the domicile of Mercury in Ptolemy, which makes it the sign of speech and exchange; Manilius gives them Apollo as protector. The image of twins who are inseparable yet different feeds the traditional reading of the sign: a two-sided mind, drawn to contrasts and able to link them. Babylonian lists already named this region of the sky “the Great Twins.”

In 2026, the Sun moves through Gemini from May 21 (2:37 AM) to June 21 (10:25 AM), Paris time
Are you really Gemini?
Gemini opens on May 20 or 21 and ends at the June solstice, also on the 20th or 21st. On these dates, a few hours are enough to change signs: a morning can still belong to Taurus, and the evening of the same day to Gemini. The table places these changeovers over two years; for your own, your time and place of birth settle the matter.
They cover the last stretch of spring, from May 20 or 21 to the June solstice, on the 20th or 21st. It is one of the longest signs: as July approaches, the Earth moves away from the Sun, whose apparent course slows, and the passage lasts more than thirty-one days. If your birthday touches one of the boundaries, your time and place of birth settle the question.
Why do people say Gemini has two faces?
The expression comes from the symbol of the twins, which tradition interprets as an inner duality: two centers of interest, two moods, two ways of seeing the same situation. It implies neither hypocrisy nor double-dealing. Astrologers read in it rather an ability to understand several points of view and to change register depending on the person you are talking to. The charge of inconstancy is its negative version, often exaggerated.
What is the ruling planet of Gemini?
Mercury rules Gemini, and Virgo as well. The fastest planet and the closest to the Sun, it is tied by tradition to thought, language, trade, and travel. In Gemini, it would be more curious and sociable than in Virgo, which is more analytical. Ptolemy assigns no exaltation to this sign, and Jupiter, ruler of the opposite sign, would be in detriment here.
Which signs is Gemini compatible with?
Astrologers readily cite Libra and Aquarius, with whom conversation never runs dry, as well as Aries and Leo, who appreciate its liveliness. Sagittarius, the opposite sign, forms a duo of travelers with it, stimulating and sometimes electric. These are only leads: the position of the Moon, Venus, and the rising sign in each person weighs at least as much.
What is Gemini’s main flaw?
Scattered focus comes up most often: many projects open, few seen through, and an interest that dulls as soon as novelty disappears. Next come nervousness and a tendency to avoid difficult conversations. These are symbolic tendencies, which the rest of the chart can contradict. A Moon in Taurus or a Capricorn rising sign, for example, would bring a constancy that the Sun alone does not describe.
