Light and sky
At this point in the year, the Sun rises and sets noticeably lower on the horizon, and its height at noon, already low, keeps dropping.
Nights far outlast days. Scorpio is a textbook case for precession: astronomers today draw the constellation Scorpius over a narrow strip that the Sun crosses in only a few days, while the sign’s season lasts a month. The Sun then goes on through Ophiuchus, which astrology does not keep. The constellation’s main star is Antares, a red supergiant whose name means “rival of Ares,” hence of Mars, so red does it glow in the sky. In everyday life, this is the return to winter time and the first frosts.
