Light and sky
The day has regained almost as much light as the night, and the Sun is climbing fast.
The season ends at the March equinox, the point where the tropical zodiac starts over: Aries takes up the race and the loop closes. In France, it is also the time of the first mild spells, rains, and thaw, the late-winter floods that precede spring’s arrival. By a twist of precession, it is precisely in front of the constellation Pisces that the equinox point, the “vernal point,” lies today; it settled there around 70 BCE and, according to the International Astronomical Union’s boundaries, will move into Aquarius around the year 2600. The Sun crosses this stellar Pisces during Aries season.
