Light and sky
Days lengthen faster and faster: a gain of two minutes a day is reached before the end of the season.
But the cold has not yet reached its minimum in the Northern Hemisphere; the Earth, which has been cooling slowly since the solstice, lags behind the light. The season is also the one when the Chinese calendar enters the new year: the New Year falls on the second new moon after the winter solstice, which almost always places it in Aquarius season. In almanacs, Candlemas, halfway between the solstice and the equinox, announces the end of the worst of winter. As for the constellation Aquarius, the Sun crosses it only at the end of winter.
