Jupiter opposition Saturn: the meaning
Jupiter and Saturn face each other about ten years after each conjunction.
The opposition of 2010-2011, with Jupiter in Aries and Saturn in Libra, and that of 1989-1990, between Cancer and Capricorn, thus marked two generations, for several months each time. For a given person, everything depends on the houses occupied and the intimate planets the opposition touches.
When it is emphasized, this opposition would describe a search for balance between two attitudes: openness, optimism, and the wish to grow on one side; rigor, caution, and a sense of limits on the other. It is often found in people who each embody one of these poles: a generous parent and a strict one, an enthusiastic partner and a prudent accountant. It thus develops a talent for arbitration and solid compromises.
The possible downside would be oscillation: moving from one attitude to its opposite, or counting on others for the boldness or caution one does not own oneself. The person may also feel guilty either way: guilty for spending, guilty for holding back. Astrologers suggest integrating both attitudes, recognizing in oneself both the optimist and the realist. This opposition then teaches a valuable maturity in important decisions, and an ability to advise others when they hesitate between two paths.
