Moon opposition Jupiter: the meaning
Someone who is dazzled by a charismatic teacher, who moves abroad for love, who hosts the whole family one weekend and hides away at home the next: the Moon-Jupiter opposition has this pendulum.
The Moon and the giant planet occupy two complementary signs here. A Moon in Sagittarius, hungry for wide open spaces, would for example face a Jupiter in Gemini, the sign of its detriment, scattered among details. Each month, the Moon comes to stand opposite Jupiter for about forty hours.
Their need for breadth is readily lived through other people. They cross paths with mentors, partners from elsewhere, adoptive families who open up horizons. They give a lot, sometimes without measure, and secretly hope for a gratitude to match. These bonds broaden and nourish them. They can also let them down when the ideal image they had of them meets everyone’s ordinary limits: a tired mentor, a friend who forgets an appointment.
The risk lies in the gap between expectations and commitments. Promising a lot to be loved, hoping for a lot to feel secure: the opposition can turn into a cycle of enthusiasm and disappointment. The whole challenge is to develop for yourself the trust and largesse you admire in a guide or partner, and to scale your giving to your real strengths.
