Mars opposition Jupiter: the meaning
A student who publicly challenges a renowned professor, an employee who takes a large company to court, a person drawn by an overly ambitious friend into an oversized project: the Mars-Jupiter opposition has this dynamic of confrontation.
The two planets stand at opposite points from each other. Mars in Gemini against Jupiter in Sagittarius, at home: lively, scattered action would face broad, self-assured convictions. Mars in Capricorn, exalted, facing Jupiter in Cancer, exalted too, would set two forces at their peak against each other.
Questions of conviction often play out for them in confrontation. They run up against authorities, ideologies, people who think bigger or think differently. These clashes force them to sharpen their own ideas, gauge their strength, and choose their battles. They thereby develop a real intellectual courage and a capacity to defend what they believe in.
The downside would be excess. Getting into exhausting quarrels, overestimating their strength against powerful adversaries, letting themselves be pulled into other people’s oversized projects. The task is to discover their right measure: to recognize the value of opposing convictions, to choose the battles that matter, and to stop expecting from others the drive or legitimacy they can give themselves.
