Sun opposition Mars: the meaning
Mars in opposition to the Sun is Mars at its closest to the Earth, red and brilliant in the night sky, often retrograde: a sight that returns about every two years.
A Sun in Aquarius facing a Mars in Leo, for example, where the collective ideal would face the wish to assert oneself personally. This polarity is often played out in relationships: identity on one side, action on the other, and other people in between.
Modern astrologers observe that this opposition frequently plays out through projection. The person meets in others the aggression, competition, and initiative they do not dare to own, and reacts strongly. They may find themselves in rivalry with a colleague, a sibling, a partner. A partner in too much of a hurry, a neighbor encroaching on the garden, a competitor copying an idea: these confrontations are also opportunities: they force the person to defend their position, to clarify what they want, and to develop their own courage.
The downside would be chronic conflict. By constantly measuring yourself against others, you can feel endlessly attacked or exhaust your energy in pointless fights. The way out lies in reclaiming: acknowledging your own combativeness, expressing it directly rather than suffering it in others, choosing worthy opponents, a sports match, a debate, rather than daily quarrels.
