The 3rd decan of Taurus: the meaning

Saturn closes Taurus in the series of faces, right after the Moon.

The triplicities reach the same ruler by another path: the third decan goes to Capricorn, the last earth sign, which Saturn rules. This double agreement gives a clear portrait, that of a Taurus who adds to a natural patience a sense of duration and responsibility, and who readily thinks in decades rather than seasons.

One would picture a person who pays off a loan early, maintains the family home, and plants trees whose full size they will never see. At work, they move forward without flash but without retreat, and often end up in a solid position, the one entrusted with the keys and the accounts. Commitments are kept; promises made lightly are very rare. Around them, everyone knows they can lean on their word, even when keeping it is costly.

The downside would be a rigidity that sets in over time. Loyalty to what has been built can become possessiveness, caution a form of stinginess, constancy a refusal of change. Saturnian tradition would advise this decan to agree to part with certain things (objects, habits, positions) in order to stay free to build something else. Saturn, the ancients remind us, is also the lord of passing time and succeeding seasons.

The 3rd decan of Taurus: tradition

What tradition says

Saturn has neither domicile nor exaltation in Taurus; it is Venus’s guest there, with whom tradition credits it with good relations.

How is it calculated?

The faces give Saturn; the triplicities give Capricorn and its ruler, Saturn.

Frequently asked questions about the 3rd decan of Taurus

Why does Saturn rule the 3rd decan of Taurus?

The Chaldean faces reach Saturn after the Moon, picking the series back up from the beginning: Saturn, Jupiter, Mars… The triplicities, for their part, assign the last third to the third earth sign, Capricorn, ruled by Saturn. The two methods, very different, thus converge on the same planet, which makes the reading of this decan particularly clear.

Is the 3rd decan of Taurus the most stubborn?

Tradition credits it with the most marked tenacity, Saturn reinforcing the constancy of the sign. This obstinacy can be a strength, the one that lets a person finish what others abandon, or a stiffness in the face of change. It is a symbolic indication; a Moon in Gemini or a Sagittarius rising sign, for example, would clearly loosen this trait.

Can someone born at the end of Taurus be a Gemini?

Yes, if the birth falls on the day of the changeover, after the moment the Sun leaves Taurus. This third decan ends precisely at that moment, which the site’s engine calculates to the minute for each year. For a birth in the last hours of Taurus, the time and place settle the question between the end of this decan and the start of Gemini.
