The 1st decan of Leo: the meaning
The series of faces, which left off with the Moon at the end of Cancer, resumes with Saturn at the start of Leo.
Nothing about the choice is deliberate: it is the mechanical effect of the Chaldean order, which takes no account of the signs. It nonetheless produces a telling meeting between the slowest of the planets and the sign of the Sun. The triplicities, for their part, give the first slice of Leo to its own master, the Sun, and describe an unmixed Leo.
In the Saturnian reading, one would picture a person who takes the lead on a family or professional project and carries its weight without complaint: the eldest sibling who organizes a parent’s care, the manager who stays late to finish the file. Their pride would come through reliability. In the solar reading, they would be warmer and more demonstrative, drawn to the stage, creative work, children, and parties that go well.
The downside depends on the ruler. With Saturn, authority might turn severe, and the demands placed on oneself spread to everyone around. With the Sun, the need to be admired might take up too much room. Both portraits would do well to remember that Leo’s true dignity lies in generosity: an authority that encourages rather than judges, and that also knows how to ask for help.
