The 3rd decan of Pisces: the meaning

Mars closes the zodiac in the series of faces, Jupiter having come before it.

The triplicities keep it too, this decan pointing back to Scorpio, the water of autumn, ruled by Mars and, among the moderns, by Pluto. This double agreement gives an unexpected color to the gentlest sign: a compassion that does not let itself be pushed around and knows how to show its teeth when needed.

One would describe a person able to mobilize intensely for a cause: defending a mistreated animal, a petition to save a threatened place, relentless support for a loved one mistreated by a bureaucracy. Her compassion is nothing passive; it turns into action as soon as an injustice touches her. Art, music, and politically engaged theater could also channel this energy, whose strength often surprises those who saw only gentleness in her.

Exhaustion and excessive reactions would be the risks of this third. Mars in a water sign might swing a person from great gentleness to sudden anger, which baffles loved ones. Total commitment would also risk draining reserves, especially when a cause stretches over years. The end of Pisces would do well to pick its battles, surround itself with allies, and allow itself rest between fights, without guilt.

The 3rd decan of Pisces: tradition

What tradition says

Pisces offers Mars no dignity; it is the guest of Jupiter there.

How is it calculated?

The faces give Mars; the triplicities give Scorpio and its ruler, Mars.

Frequently asked questions about the 3rd decan of Pisces

Why does Mars rule the last decan of the zodiac?

For the Chaldeans, Mars follows Jupiter, ruler of the second decan of Pisces, and so closes the series. By triplicity, this third corresponds to Scorpio, ruled by Mars. The two methods thus agree, as for the first decan of Aries, which also picks up Mars right after.

Why does Mars come back twice in a row between Pisces and Aries?

Because 36 is not a multiple of 7. Distributing the seven planets over 36 decans in the Chaldean order, the series makes five complete rounds and one decan is left over: Mars, which opens the series at Aries, closes it at Pisces too. The cycle can thus start over each year without a break.

Is the last decan of Pisces close to Aries?

By its ruler, yes: Mars rules both this third and the first decan of Aries. The Sun nonetheless stays fully in Pisces until the spring equinox, a moment calculated to the minute by the site. A birth on the day of the equinox needs the time to know which side it falls on.
