Libra Sun, Aries rising: the meaning
Aries and Libra sit at the two ends of the same axis, one opening spring, the other autumn.
Both cardinal, they love to begin; but the first sets off alone, while the second looks for a partner. Mars rules the eastern horizon, Venus the heart: Ares and Aphrodite, Homer’s famous lovers, share this temperament. At first contact, the person seems lively, athletic, quick to decide; they give an opinion before anyone has even asked for it.
The Sun sits in the west, in the 7th house: it is face to face with another person that the depths show themselves. One then discovers a deeply relational nature, which thinks in pairs, negotiates, and looks for the fairest agreement. This combination makes excellent lawyers, mediators, and partners; it knows how to rush to the defense of a client, a friend, or a wronged colleague, and then find the compromise that spares everyone. Friendships and love affairs sit at the center of life.
The opposition between the two signs nonetheless creates a pendulum swing. The person attacks and then apologizes, asserts and then doubts, wants independence while fearing loneliness. They may provoke a conflict to test the strength of a bond. The challenge would be to keep Aries’ drive and Libra’s search for agreement together, without sacrificing one to the other: say what they want, then truly listen to the answer.
