What tradition says
Neither the Sun nor Jupiter is dignified in Scorpio, in Ptolemy’s sense; Jupiter does, however, find water again, the element of its Pisces.
Astrologers would therefore see here a solar ruler who lights up the depths, or a Jupiterian ruler who opens them to others. Modern astrologers add Neptune, the contemporary master of Pisces.
The Sun crosses this decan in early November, when the days shorten sharply. Ancient calendars placed the festivals of the dead and of ancestors there; tradition associates Scorpio with what is transformed, an image that the compassionate reading of this third extends.
