What does the letter W mean?
In twenty-third place, W comes down to 2 + 3 = 5, like the E and the N. The 5 is about curiosity, change, and the need for air.
The W keeps its appetite for novelty, with a particular tint: in French it is used mostly to write words that came from elsewhere, wagon, week-end, watt, web. A borrowed letter, in a way, which reminds us that the 5 readily goes looking for what it does not find at home.
It belongs to the physical plane, with the E: movement happens through the body and through travel more than through reflection. Its name, double v, tells its shape: two Vs set side by side, a zigzag line that rises and falls. Each point suggests a departure, each hollow a stage. In a name, a W adds a 5 without strong ties, more available than that of the E, which likes variety, or of the N, which likes discovery. The difficulty is that of any 5: settling in a little, long enough for experience to ripen instead of scattering.
