First impressions: Scorpio rising
At a first meeting, Scorpio rising rarely speaks first.
You listen, work out who really decides, note what remains unresolved. For tradition, this rising sign would give a direct gaze, a sober way of carrying oneself, an economy of gesture that intrigues. Others perceive depth, sometimes reserve, rarely indifference. A concrete downside: at a party where the host is your only reference point, you stay near the kitchen talking at length with one person, and some guests leave convinced you judged them, when you were simply getting your bearings. Two or three exchanges are often enough to change that impression completely.
This mask of restraint does not necessarily reflect the Sun sign. A Gemini or Sagittarius Sun, chatty once comfortable, can hide behind this measured manner: the rising sign would be the door, the Sun the room where you live. Astrologers would see in Scorpio rising a protection, a way of testing the ground before putting weight on it. At a bank counter or facing a pushy sales pitch, this caution spares you many hasty commitments. It has a cost, though: a message left three days unanswered because you were weighing every word leaves the other person in doubt, and the restraint is then read as disinterest.
