North Node in the 4th house: the meaning
An angular house, the 4th opens onto the Imum Coeli, at the very bottom of the wheel.
It refers to the home, origins, family, the inner foundation. The North Node there would place the learning in the intimate: settling down, putting down roots, giving time to loved ones. The South Node then sits in the 10th house, near the Midheaven, the domain of profession and reputation. The inherited know-how would relate to visible success, responsibilities, an image to maintain.
The examples speak for themselves: an apartment used only to sleep between business trips, family dinners canceled for a meeting, an identity that boils down to the title on a business card. The node in the 4th house would suggest rebalancing: setting up a real home, tracing your family’s history, making yourself available for an aging parent. The downside would be excessive withdrawal, a life centered on the cocoon to the point of refusing any exposure.
The 10th-house pole keeps its qualities: sense of duty, ability to lead, steadiness. The idea would be to put them in the service of private life, to build a home with the same diligence as a career. The node’s sign tints this direction: in Cancer, it would be affectionate; in Aquarius, it might go through shared housing or a chosen family.
