Aquarius Sun, Cancer rising: the meaning
Between the Cancer of July and the Aquarius of February lie one hundred fifty degrees: a quincunx, an angle the Hellenistic authors called “without sight.” Cardinal water and fixed air, the tide and the wind.
The east belongs to Selene; the heart, to Saturn and, for the moderns, to Uranus. Gentleness strikes first: tea offered, a worry about whether your trip was hard, children’s names remembered and asked about again at the next meeting.
The 8th house for the Sun: shared assets, inheritances, transformations. This combination is interested in what is passed on and transformed: family stories, questions of shared money, great social changes. They may run a mutual-aid society, campaign for a fairer distribution of resources, or accompany families through hard stages. Their sensitivity meets their concern for the collective here.
The quincunx creates ambivalence. Cancer wants to curl up, Aquarius wants to get some air: the person alternates surges of tenderness with a need for solitude, and loved ones do not always know which way to turn. They may even feel a little like an outsider within their own family. Opposite the horizon, Capricorn would ask for clear commitments and expectations spoken aloud. Loved ones end up understanding this need for air and support it.
