The 2nd decan of Virgo: the meaning

In the series of faces, it is Venus’s turn after the Sun: the center of Virgo falls to her.

The triplicities assign this decan to Capricorn, the second earth sign, and to Saturn, its master. The gap is wide between the planet of pleasantness and the planet of effort; tradition draws from it two variants of the same taste for the useful and the well made.

On Venus’s side, one would describe a person who thinks to bring flowers to the hospital, sews a colleague’s button back on, prepares a suitable meal for a friend on a diet. Service would be a way of loving. On Saturn’s side, they would climb the rungs of a demanding career patiently, prepare for a competitive exam for two years, build their reputation on reliability. In both cases, the effort is real and rarely put forward.

The downside would lie in self-forgetting or harshness toward oneself. Venus might push toward making yourself indispensable to the point of exhaustion; Saturn, toward never judging yourself up to the mark. Receiving as much as giving, and measuring your progress rather than your shortfalls, would be the path suggested to this decan. An evening spent letting yourself be served, offering nothing in return, would already be a fine exercise.

The 2nd decan of Virgo: tradition

What tradition says

Venus is in fall in Virgo, the sign opposite her exaltation, Pisces: tradition sees there an affection that turns modest and practical.

How is it calculated?

The faces give Venus; the triplicities give Capricorn and its ruler, Saturn.

Frequently asked questions about the 2nd decan of Virgo

Venus or Saturn: which ruler for the 2nd decan of Virgo?

Venus by the Chaldean faces, which place her after the Sun of the first decan. Saturn by the triplicities, since this third goes to Capricorn, the second earth sign. The two planets give contrasting portraits, one affectionate, the other ambitious; the site sets them out together without favoring either.

Why is Venus in fall in Virgo?

Pisces hosts the exaltation of Venus in Ptolemy; Virgo, opposite, is her fall. For tradition, tenderness would then come through useful gestures rather than declarations. Here, Venus nonetheless takes the role of decan ruler, which gives a nuanced reading, between gentleness and practical sense.

When is the 2nd decan of Virgo?

In the first days of September, the Sun reaches 10 degrees of Virgo and begins a course of a little over ten days there. The instants of entry and exit shift slightly from year to year; the site’s engine gives them in Paris time for three back-to-school seasons, and the sign tool finds them for past years.
