A little history
Ptolemy sets out the domiciles and exaltations in the Tetrabiblos, in Book I. Dorotheus of Sidon, in the 1st century, gives the rulers of the triplicities, that is, of the groups of elements.
The exaltations, according to several historians, would be of Mesopotamian origin. William Lilly gathers all of it in Christian Astrology, in 1647, as a table with weights, which remains the reference for traditional astrologers. Arab and medieval authors had in the meantime passed on and enriched the Greek heritage, which explains the persistence of Latin terms such as “peregrine”.
