Challenge number 5: the meaning
It speaks of choosing your changes rather than having them imposed on you.
Challenge 5 concerns freedom, movement, and how you welcome the new.
Its first form is restlessness. As soon as a situation becomes routine or demanding, the urge to leave appears: new job, new city, new project, new passion. Experiences add up, but few reach maturity. Its second form is more discreet: fear of change. You cling to a situation that no longer fits, you deny yourself an adventure for fear of losing your bearings. Both attitudes share one thing, the difficulty of freely choosing your movement instead of undergoing it.
Before fifty, it often shows up as a restless youth or, on the contrary, a very structured one, with the feeling of never being in the right place. Around 50, when it becomes the current challenge, it accompanies urges to travel, change careers, or move, and the question of what deserves to be shaken up. When it is the main challenge, each period raises again the question of the right balance between stability and discovery.
Movement is not the enemy. It becomes a strength once it is chosen consciously, to move toward something rather than to escape something else. It is worked on through small decisions, made one at a time.
