Sun in the 1st house: the meaning
Every chart opens on the eastern horizon, where the stars rise; the 1st house starts from that point.
The Sun occupies it when it is about to appear: most often within the two hours or so before sunrise, the gap varying with the season and the latitude. Placed in this angular house, the most personal in the chart, the luminary of identity partly merges with the way a person presents themselves. What they want to be and what they show coincide more than with other placements.
Such a person is spotted quickly: they take the wheel by default on a trip with friends, react out loud, and own their taste in clothes. Their vitality shows in their gestures. They need to act in their own name, to sign what they do, and they put up poorly with staying behind someone else. The sign the Sun falls in, along with the rising sign, refines the style: in Capricorn, this self-assertion stays restrained; in Leo, it becomes dazzling.
This visibility has a price. The person may feel constantly watched, or on the contrary seek attention without realizing it. Group projects take effort: leaving the lead role to others, accepting a shared decision. The 7th house, opposite, recalls the lesson of the axis: we also discover ourselves in a partner’s eyes, and not only in our own reflection.
