Neptune sextile Pluto: the meaning
Neptune and Pluto drew close to a sextile in the mid-1940s and stayed there, within a few degrees, for several decades: Pluto, on the fastest part of its orbit, was then advancing at almost the same pace as Neptune.
With the five-degree orb used by Versana, the aspect is present for most births from the mid-1940s to the late 1980s, then again from the mid-2020s; in between, the gap widened slightly and many charts no longer count it. It is the most enduring background aspect in contemporary astrology.
Shared by hundreds of millions of people, this sextile says almost nothing about an individual by itself. It only stands out if it joins a luminary, Mercury, Venus, Mars, or the Ascendant. One would then read in it a sensitivity to the slow, deep transformations of one’s time, an ability to connect the great currents of ideas and social change, and an interest in psychology, spirituality, ecological questions, or collective memories.
The main mistake would be to over-interpret this aspect, as if it set a person apart from their contemporaries. It is better read as the setting in which the chart’s other configurations take place, a kind of common backdrop to several generations.
