What tradition says

Saturn is the Greeks’ Cronus, the Romans’ Saturn, god of time, limits, duration, and work.

He rules Capricorn and, in the old tradition, Aquarius. His retrograde motion would be a time of checking: verifying foundations, looking at what you have put off, reexamining the promises made and the rules you set yourself. Tradition would advise less breaking away than putting things back in order. It sometimes compares these months to an examination of conscience. This reading is symbolic, with no measured basis, and everyone remains free to see in it only a season of the planet.

Does Saturn really move backward?
