Moon in the 7th house: the meaning
On the western side, where each evening the Sun leaves our sight, lies the descendant; the 7th house starts from this point.
This angular sector is that of the one across from you: spouse, associate, loyal client, declared opponent, any relationship lived face to face. Its zodiacal equivalent is Libra, the domain of Venus. The Moon, which represents the need for security and emotional reflexes, places its center of gravity here in other people. Feeling good means being connected, and mood readily sets itself to the climate of the main relationship, like a tide to the pull of a celestial body.
This need shows in life choices: the person looks early for a stable relationship, works better in a pair, readily consults someone close before signing anything. They sense finely the expectations of their partner and know how to look after them. The public, in the broad sense, often reflects back a warm image; strangers confide in them on the train. Their important ties sometimes take on a parental coloring, protective or protected, a reminder of the maternal symbolism attached to the Moon.
What makes them gentle also makes them dependent. Without company, they can feel disoriented; in a couple, they risk adopting the other’s tastes and moods until they forget themselves. Separations, even temporary ones, shake them a great deal. The ascendant, just opposite, points to the stake of the axis: cultivating an identity of one’s own, one that enriches the relationship instead of making it indispensable to emotional survival.
