Personal month 1: the meaning
Its climate favors whatever begins with you: a decision made without waiting for consensus, a step that no one else will take in your place, an idea tested before it is shown to anyone.
Personal month 1 marks a start on a small scale. Personal months follow one another in order, from 1 to 9, then begin again: this one opens a short series of nine months, much as a Monday opens the week.
The questions of this month are simple and direct. What am I putting off for lack of a starting signal? What depends only on me? What would I do if no one gave their opinion? A 1 does not require a big project; a first phone call, a sign-up, or a draft sent off is enough to make use of it.
This month takes on color from the year around it. In a 1 year, already turned toward launching, it falls in September and gives a fresh push at the start of the school year: a chance to check that the spring’s projects are still moving. In a 9 year, it arrives in January and in October. The year then invites you to conclude, and the month mostly serves to prepare what comes next: noting what you would like to undertake next year, without setting anything off right now. In a 2 or 6 year, more turned toward others, it reminds you that you also have the right to decide for yourself.
The momentum of this month is brief. What counts is the initial gesture: the 2 month that follows will call for patience and agreements, the 3 month for visibility. A start made now therefore has time to find its supports.
